Groundbreaking Ceremony
On Saturday, March 14, 2026 our community gathered for a powerful and heartfelt Groundbreaking Ceremony, honoring the beginning of renovations at our new property in Miami Gardens.
The morning began with music from our Music Ministry and the beautiful song that we sing at the beginning of services “My Soul is Welcome Here.” Together we honored the incredible journey that brought our community to this moment and celebrated the vision that will carry us forward for generations to come.
We were deeply honored to be joined by community and interfaith leaders who came to bless this historic moment, including Miami-Dade County Commissioner Oliver Gilbert, Miami Gardens Councilwoman Baskin, Iqbal Aktar of Interfaith Miami, and Abdul Samra, Imam at the Islamic Center for Greater Miami in Miami Gardens. Their presence was a beautiful reminder that this new space is rooted not only in faith, but also in partnership, unity, and shared community.
One of the most moving moments came during the Sacred Soil Ceremony, when members of our community brought soil from our previous property and placed it into the earth of our new land. It was a powerful symbol that we are not starting over, we are continuing. We are re-rooting, not relocating.
With a golden shovel and hearts full of gratitude, we blessed the land together with Rev. Juan’s words:
“We carry forward the faith that built us.
We plant it now in new ground.
This land blesses all who enter.
We are rooted in unity, we are planted in God.”
Thank you to everyone who came to witness and bless this sacred milestone in the life of Unity on the Bay. The future we are building is rooted in love, faith, and community.
