“We must learn to know that God is spirit and that his spirit within us is a motive power which carries us forward in every department of our daily living. Children should be taught that God is spirit and that the purpose of their being is to express God. They should be [taught] in the faith and understanding which makes them to know that they express the spirit of God in every thought and desire and action.”

Youth & Family Ministry

As a vibrant spiritual youth community we provide a safe place for ALL Children, Teens and their families to be filled with love and acceptance; a place all can recognize their oneness with God.

We recognize that there are many expressions of a family life and we embrace them all. We create a safe haven, an environment that fosters in our youth a positive self-image, personal responsibility, and unconditional love and acceptance.

At Unity on the Bay’s Youth & Family Ministry, we:

  • Behold all children as whole and perfect expressions of God
  • Guide all children to explore their feelings and recognize their true goodness
  • Empower children to fulfill their divine potential
  • Use their heart to see the CHRIST within
  • Invite children to feel and express a loving God
  • Teach children to mediate and pray
  • Provide resources and skills to parents and guardians who want to support their children in healthy positive living

Through our Youth & Family Ministry, we provide a strong spiritual living foundation for all children, youth, and families.

Sacred Safety

Sacred Safety refers to the practices, procedures and policies that reduce the possibility of dangerous situations, injury or loss to our children and adults. At Unity on the Bay, we create an environment where young people can explore their spiritual identity and potential without threat of harm.

The diversity of the children served by our Youth & Family Ministry is one of our strengths.

The diversity of the children served by our Youth & Family Ministry is one of our strengths.

Please drop your children off between 10:45am-11:00am so:

  • We are able to take more time to greet each child and help them settle in before classes begin at 11:00am
  • Children are able to take advantage of the pre-session activities (10:45am-11:00am).
  • Some children find it awkward or difficult to walk into an activity that is already in progress, and may require more time to feel a part of the group.
  • Parents have ample time to check out information about upcoming YFM events. This information is posted in the welcome area of Cameron House.
  • Parents have ample time to find seats at the adult service, which begins at 11:00am.

NOTE: We have an “open door” policy: Parents are welcome to remain, to observe, visit and see what the program is all about.

Departure

All classes end with snacks and waiting time for parents to pick-up the children. Toys are allowed as long as they do not become an distraction, this includes video games, tablets and cellular phone.

Attire

Children are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing. While every precaution is taken to protect clothing, we sometimes engage in activities that may result in soil or damage. Your understanding is greatly appreciated.

Recuperation Policy

If children are working through a health challenge, he/she will have difficulty participating in class and need the caring attention and healing atmosphere of their home.  Health challenges include the symptoms of fever, diarrhea, vomiting, rashes, and or eye infections.

Our Volunteers

Volunteers are the mainstay of the Youth & Family Ministry. Other than our Part-time Youth & Family Ministry Coordinator, the entire program is  run by our volunteers, our Family Ministry Sacred Servers. All of our facilitators and youth sponsors are dedicated and trained. They are of Unity on the Bay for Unity on the Bay.

All classroom facilitators and sponsors have passed national criminal background and reference checking. We provide monthly meetings and trainings for our volunteers.
