Proposed new name, and more, shared at August Special Membership Meeting

On Sunday August 30, we gathered for an important Special Membership Meeting as we continue moving toward our new spiritual home and this exciting next chapter. For those who were unable to attend, we wanted to share a few important highlights. You can watch the full meeting and hear all of the updates in the video above.

Our Proposed New Name

We also shared the results of our community-wide branding research (see slides below) and unveiled the proposed new name for our spiritual community:

Unity for All Spiritual Center

This name is not simply about who we are becoming. It reflects who we already are - a radically inclusive spiritual community committed to creating a place where everyone can experience belonging, spiritual growth and the awareness of their inherent Oneness with and in God. The research affirmed that inclusivity is one of the strongest and most defining qualities of our community.

We know there is also great love for the name Unity on the Bay and all the sacred history it represents. We honor that history as we move forward. Members will have an opportunity to vote on the necessary bylaws changes at an upcoming membership meeting. It is important to emphasize that our name has not yet changed. Unity on the Bay will remain our official name until members vote to approve the necessary bylaws changes at a Special Membership Meeting in Oct. 2026. 

Our New Home & Membership Vote

We shared an update on the renovation project, including unforeseen costs and rise in prices, as well as additional investments in technology, security and other needs for our new home. We also discussed our financial strategy, including using $10 million from our investment portfolio to reduce our debt while maintaining approximately $21 million invested to support the ministry and our future.

Members then voted on increasing the authorized expenditure for the purchase, renovation and improvement of our Miami Gardens property from $17 million to $20 million.

The vote passed with 100% of the votes cast in favor.

There is so much good unfolding, and I am grateful we are creating this next chapter together.
