Steve McCoy receives Unity’s 2026 Spirit of Leadership Award

There are moments in a community’s life when we get to pause, look around, and truly honor the people who have helped shape who we are, and this was one of those moments. Watching Steve McCoy stand on stage, surrounded by our full Board of Trustees, was more than a celebration of an award. It was a reflection of years of steady leadership, quiet dedication, and a heart committed to service.

For more than a decade, Steve has said “yes” to showing up, again and again,helping guide, support, and strengthen our community through both seen and unseen ways. As he received the 2026 Unity Spirit of Leadership Award, the room filled with applause and cheers, not just in recognition of what he’s done, but in deep gratitude for who he is. Moments like these remind us that leadership is not just about position, it’s about presence, integrity, and the willingness to serve something greater than ourselves.
