Passing of Rev. Bill Cameron

With deep love and appreciation for his light in our world, we share the news that our past Senior Minister, Rev. Bill Cameron, made his peaceful transition on Sunday, June 18th. He was surrounded by his family, including his beautiful and adoring wife, Dori. He is survived by his daughter, Heather, who grew up in our community and whose spiritual home will always be Unity on the Bay, his other children Joji and Gigi; grandchildren Renata and Jose Carlos; daughter in law Lili; sisters Vivi and Sylvi and Heather’s mother Suzanne.

Rev. Bill served Unity on the Bay as its Senior Minister from 1987 to 1997. When he first arrived, our community seemed like it would close its doors due to low attendance and difficulties. Rev. Bill held the vision for what was possible, and set up Unity on the Bay on its path to stability and growth. Many will remember that Rev. Bill became a mentor and surrogate father to our very own Rev. Chris Jackson, our most recent past Senior Minister, while Chris attended Unity Temple on the Plaza in his youth. He was a spiritual grandfather to Rev. Juan dubbing him “Holy Dude.” Throughout the years, Bill and Dori continued to be big supporters of the evolution of our community. Many of us have fond memories with Bill and we will surely get a chance to honor his life and legacy together.

A Celebration of Life Service is scheduled for Sunday, July 23rd at 2:00 PM at Temple Israel (137 NE 19th St, Miami, FL 33132) It will be officiated by Revs. Chris and Juan. All are welcome to attend.

Please join me in holding Bill, Dori and Heather in our hearts and prayers affirming eternal life and God's comfort and peace.
