Love is in the air. Can you feel it? We can. Actually love is one of Unity on the Bay's Core Values and that is why we have decided to name our biggest benefit dinner and auction of the year "The Love Gala". "The Love Gala" is the event of the year for our community to come together for a very special evening of live music, cocktails, laughs, great food, amazing auction items, and recognition of individuals and businesses who make Unity on the Bay the wonderful community that it is.
This year we are moving our special evening to Miami Beach at the beautiful Deauville Hotel. The always anticipated silent auction will offer guests the chance to choose from a vast array of coveted items. Funds raised from the generous support of bidders, gala sponsors and donors will go to expand the work of Unity on the Bay in the Miami community and beyond, through several outreach programs.
We are extremely excited to be recognizing, at our gala, two exceptional pillars of South Florida with the Light of Unity on the Bay and Corporate Light of Unity on the Bay Awards.
Light of Unity on the Bay Award - Rabbi Moshe Thomas Heyn
Raised in a secular Jewish family in Baltimore, Rabbi Tom underwent several transformative spiritual experiences before returning to and embracing his Jewish roots. He is a rabbi, musician and activist who has been the spiritual leader of Temple Israel since 2012. While at Temple Israel, Rabbi Tom has partnered with Unity on the Bay on many important causes including the Thanksgiving Drive, rallies in support of the LGBT community and interfaith dialogue. He is also a member of MCCJ where he has been an avid and strong supporter of deepening relationships between all faith communities in support of more peace and justice for all people. Rabbi Tom engages in prayer, meditation and other forms of Jewish spiritual practice on a daily basis. He has met and studied with scores of remarkable teachers, rabbis and scholars from whom he has grown personally and has imparted their wisdom to others. He emphasizes the imperative to transform the world by ""being in the world" and applying spiritual principles in our daily lives.
Corporate Light of Unity on the Bay Award - City National Bank
City National Bank is recognized as one of the most generous and community-focused banks in South Florida. Their support of many of Unity on the Bay programs is an expression of our shared core values. Their mission includes investing in the community they serve, and they do so with integrity and wisdom. Their continued support of Unity on the Bay's Backpack Drive created the resources that moved the program to be as successful as it now has become. They have also been generous in their support of our special event speakers and are always willing to look at ways to deepen their relationship with Unity on the Bay.
