Unity on the Bay

A positive path for spiritual living

Unity on the Bay is a diverse spiritual home that embraces and radiates unconditional love, acceptance, energy and healing.  At Unity, we believe that there is one power: God, the good, omnipotent, and that the awareness and connection with this power opens the manifest world to its highest and best good in every individual and the universe as a whole.  As this awareness becomes an intricate part of our lives, we begin to transform ourselves, our community and our world.

This year's An Adventure In Faith (AIF) program is titled "Power Up", based on the chosen book "Divine Audacity" written by Unity minister Rev. Linda Martella-Whitsett's. This page contains all the details for the program for your ease of reference while we travel through his adventure together.

WHAT IS AN ADVENTURE IN FAITH?

The An Adventure in Faith program is a six-week spiritual journey involving small groups beginning September 13, 2015. The program is a unique combination of Sunday messages, lessons, and guided meditations all focused on this year’s theme, “Power Up” based on this years selected book.

The idea is that each person attend the Sunday message themed around the book and then during one of the days that follows, you would meet up with your small group to pray, meditate and share your personal experience of the book. A trained facilitator will be part of every small group and will lead the group discussions and will maintain the flow.

WHAT ARE HOME STUDY GROUPS?

Small groups (5-10 people) provide a sacred space for our spiritual community to connect with each other on a more personal basis than Sunday Services allow. In addition, it provides small groups of like-minded people the opportunity to pray, learn and study together as we each deepen our understanding of spiritual principles. From out of these groups come great friendships and bonds.

WHERE DO THE SMALL GROUPS MEET?

The An Adventure in Faith program is designed so that individuals can volunteer to open their homes during the week so that a small group can come together on a weekly basis to pray, meditate and share their personal experience of the book. Consider becoming a host this year. Host and facilitator sign-ups end on August 19.

WHAT IS A FACILITATOR?

A facilitator is the person who leads the group discussions through the provided guided questions each week. If you choose to volunteer as a facilitator, you will be required to attend a training session during only 1 of these dates:

  • Sunday, August 23 from 12:45pm to 2:15pm
  • Sunday, August 30 from 12:45pm to 2:15pm
  • Sunday, September 6 from 12:45pm to 2:15pm

Also, if you choose to volunteer as a facilitator, you must be available to facilitate your group during the duration of the whole program. Signup to become a facilitator ends on August 19, 2015.

WHAT IS A HOST?

A host/hostess is the person who has agreed to open their home so that a small group can come together on a weekly basis. Ideally, the Facilitator and the Host would be the same person. If you do decide that you just want to host, there is no problem. You will be paired up with someone who just wants to facilitate.

WHAT IS THE PROCESS?

Facilitators and Hosts must first signup before participants can start selecting which small group they want to join. This has already begun and is due to be completed by August 19, 2015.  Beginning August 19 participants will then be able to choose which small group they want to join.  While you are waiting to find your small group, make sure to purchase your copy of “Divine Audacity” at the Source Bookstore.
